Fluffy Brown Rice
I attempted to cook brown rice many times but I wasn’t having any luck with getting it fluffy, it always felt like it needed more time. I did some research and finally decided to try an interesting method that I found in Saveur. What was the trick? To cook your brown rice just like you would cook your pasta. Yes, you read that right! It never fails. I added an extra step from the original recipe, just to add more flavor. I hope you like it!
Ingredients:
1 cup of brown rice
8 cups of water
2 Garlic cloves
2 Stalks of chopped green onions
Salt and pepper
Drizzle of olive oil
Preparation:
Bring a large pot of water to boil, using 6 cups water per 1 cup of rice. Rinse under running water to remove excess starch.
Add the rice to the boiling water. Add 1 tbs of salt. Reduce the temperature to medium but maintain a steady boil. Cook uncovered for 30 minutes.
Drain off the remaining cooking water and return the rice to the pot. Cover the pot and let the rice rest, off the heat, for 10 minutes.
On a frying pan, sauté the garlic cloves and green onions in olive oil for 1-2 minutes and add the rice.
Season with salt and pepper and enjoy!
