Mezcal Margarita
I’m not a bartender but I do know how to drink! So trust me when I tell you this Margarita recipe is here for the win ;) After traveling to Mexico City and having all the Mezcal in the world, I became obsessed with Mezcal-based drinks. If you ask me how I like my Margaritas, I would say strong, unsweetened, and spicy. That’s exactly why making margaritas with Mezcal is my way to go.
While I love Mezcal Margaritas, I didn’t know how to make them. It wasn’t until my friend Alex’s boyfriend, Andrew (or should I call him Andres for the purpose of this iconic Mexican drink) made me one of the best Margaritas that I have ever had when I finally learned how to make one. Gracias Amigo!
Ingredients for 2 Margaritas ( Full glass, I don’t mess around)
4 ounces of Mezcal (I like BOZAL Espadin)
2 ounces of Cointreau Liqueur
1 ounce of orange juice
2 Full limes juice
Tajin seasoning for rimming the glass
Combine mezcal, lime juice, orange juice, and Cointreau in a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice cubes; cover and shake for about 30 seconds. Rub half of the glass rim with lime peel; dip in the Tajin seasoning. Fill glass with ice (I like to use 1 big ice cube) strain margarita into glass and garnish with a lime wedge.
And like my Latin friends like to say, Pa’ Arriba Pa’Abajo Pa’Centro Pa’Dentro!
